A way to remember our sweet boy.

Weathergrams for Cypress

We wanted a way for Cypress’ big brother to feel connected to Cypress after he left the Earth. A friend of ours introduced us to Weathergrams long ago when we first met. The idea of having a physical representation of a hope, a wish, a dream, a song or a sentiment resonated with us. It felt right that they’d be hung out in nature and fade as the elements wear on them. When they do, we’ll write new ones to Cypress.

How to make
a Weathergram

Cut a piece of construction paper in half (the long way, not the short way).

You could use any sort of paper for this part. The original Weathergrams are made from kraft paper or grocery store bags.

Cut some fringe onto the bottom.

We cut fringe at the bottom so ours would flutter more in the wind. This step is absolutely optional.

Write your message to Cypress or draw him a picture.

Ours have messages of what we miss, songs that we used to sing to him, questions we have for him, pictures we’d think he might like.

Fold over the top of your Weathergram and punch a hole through it.

Folding over the top gives the paper extra strength as the weather will push and pull against it.

Hang your Weathergram in a tree, off of a deck or anywhere in nature that feels right.

Find a place for your message in nature and hang it up with twine or ribbon.

Take a photo and send it to us!

We’d love to see a photo of your Weathergram for Cypress in nature. We hope it brings you a sense of closeness with us during quarentine.
